Big Changes Coming
Coulee Region Online was an attempt at creating a social networking and local information site for the Coulee Region. I had big plans that were, unfortunately, too big. I had a dream of a huge site with hundreds of local people joining in and creating the ultimate online destination for the Coulee Region.
What I ended up with is a mostly empty site except for a handful of people bickering in the forums. Not at all what I had in mind. There are many reasons for this that I'm not going to go into here but the end result is that I am not happy with this website and it stopped being a source of enjoyment for me a long time ago. I've let it continue mostly because I'm stubborn and not willing to give up on my dream but I've realized it needs to change and change a lot.
These changes will take quite a while. I have multiple other projects going on so cannot dedicate myself to this as much as I'd like. My best guess at this point is it will be early next year before the new site is revealed. In the mean time, the current site will remain online but is not being actively maintained. The forums are still live and often lively and can be amusing if you have a thick skin. The blog page is still bringing in feeds from local bloggers, though I am turning off hosted blogging as it was barely used and will not exist in the new site. The groups section is still open but always was a ghost town anyway. The directory is still there for now. I may remove it but haven't decided. There is some useful info there but much of it is woefully out of date so use it with caution. The gallery page is still up but photos are rarely added. You can find a link there to my Flickr page for more recent photos. In short, the site is what it is right now and getting little to no attention. Feel free to use what's here but understand that it is essentially on life support while its replacement is being created.
I hope to see you all back here early next year for the new and improved Coulee Region Online.
Michelle
